How can i curl my hair like christina perri?

I recently got my hair cut like christina perri's. I got the picture from google from her jar of hearts photo shoots. it's slightly curled and my hair dresser did it beautifully. I tried today to do it myself and i came out looking like a poodle with straight bangs! please help
