What do you think of this dress code?

Recently, my high school made changes to the school dress code for next year as the following: the rules basically apply to girls: all shirts must have long sleeves whether they are worn under or over (so no tank tops, etc). The rule for shorts, skirts and dresses used to be that it had to pass the fingertips but now it has to pass below the knees. Nobody is happy with this new rule since we feel like a covenant now, but how would you see it? A lot of people were saying they'd rather get a uniform, and the worst part is that we live in a city that is always scorching hot and we're going to be cooking out here with everything past the knees.
